Happily Ever Hogan

Our Story

Rodney and Shekinah had been childhood companions growing up together at Frontline Christian Church on 7 Mile in Detroit.

Their families, tightly knit through years of shared faith and friendship, had always envisioned a future where the two would find each other in matrimony.

Shekinah, with her vibrant spirit and unwavering kindness, had always harbored a special fondness for Rodney.

Teenage Years

Shekinah fondly recalled the teenage years when she believed she had given Rodney a chance at romance, though Rodney’s memory of those days differed. Still, she kept the Facebook messages from their youth as a testament to their shared history and the unspoken feelings between them.

Reunited

Then, amidst the ebb and flow of their separate lives, fate intervened. Rodney, after enduring his own trials, reached out to Shekinah once more. Initially hesitant due to Rodney’s presumed commitment, Shekinah eventually followed her heart’s prompting to reconnect. It was a decision that would change everything. When Rodney faced a significant health challenge, Shekinah rallied her loved ones in prayer. Once he recovered, their conversations resumed with an intensity that mirrored their teenage years. Hours melted away as they spoke nightly, bridging the distance between Detroit and Texas with shared laughter, dreams, and newfound love.

Engagement

Months passed in a whirlwind of shared hopes and dreams. Then, on a sunny day in Detroit’s Belle Isle, Rodney knelt before Shekinah, offering a future woven with love and faith. Overwhelmed with joy, Shekinah accepted, knowing in her heart that their union was not just a fulfillment of childhood dreams but a testament to the guiding hand of God.

As they embraced their engagement, Shekinah reflected on Rodney's steadfastness as a protector and provider, grateful for the blessing of a love that had endured and blossomed against the odds. With faith as their foundation, they eagerly awaited the day when they would become husband and wife, their hearts forever intertwined in the beautiful tapestry of their shared journey.
